 How to add a spare smart key to a Chevrolet Tahoe, manufactured in June 2016 using Lonsdor K518 Pro?

These vehicles are often considered 2017 models, as the sixth month is a transitional year for American cars. If the year is a transitional year, the programming procedure and even the key type may differ significantly.

However, in our case, it’s quite simple—regardless of whether this Tahoe is considered a 2016 or 2017. Dealer tools are not required, but a programmer with immobilizer support is still required.

 

Step 1: Read Pin Code

Select IMMO & Remote- Chevrolet- USA/Canada-Tahoe- 2017 to 2019 -Smart key- Read PIN Code.

Read 4-digit pin code successfully.

Step 2: Add smart key

If select Add smart key from this menu path, Lonsdor will report an error Security access verification failed.

An interesting challenge arose regarding the model year. We initially selected 2016 but encountered a communication error. Switching to the previous model year (likely 2015 for this “transitional” 2016 vehicle) resolved the issue immediately. This serves as a vital tip: if you encounter an error when programming a GM vehicle, trying an adjacent model year is a practical first step.

Select Chevrolet- USA-Tahoe-2015 to 2016 year- Program smart key- Add smart key.

Turn on igntion switch.
Put the smart key to be programmed into the key slot, take other keys ourside the car.

The slot here is under the cup holder.
Read current key numbers.

Enter 4-digit pin to access.

Lonsdor k518 pro starts 10-minute configuration of the system process.

The new key was programmed successfully.

Hold down the start button for 12 sec.
Release the start button and wait for 5 sec.

Press and hold the start button until the dashboard turns on.

Press the start button to switch ignition off.
Open and close the driver’s door.
Configuring system.

Key programming is completed.

I went back to the 2025 Lexus RX350 add key. Success with Lonsdor K518 Pro and LT20.
I brought the regular 8a ba bypass and tried to pin the can H-can L with flyer wires and failed.
I had to go grab the Lonsdor 30 pin bypass on in pic 2# , it worked great for autel and Lonsdor. ( saved hours because somone cut out a huge access behind the glove box lol pic3#).

Lonsdor K518 Pro Program 2020 Kia Soul 4A Smart Key

 When a customer’s 2020 Kia Soul was left stranded due to a failed aftermarket key fob, we were tasked with programming a new, fully original smart key to get the vehicle back on the road. The process, completed using a Lonsdor K518 Pro programmer and a genuine key, demonstrates a straightforward solution to a common modern car problem.

 

The Initial Challenge: Navigating the Vehicle Menu

The first step was selecting the correct vehicle in the Key K518 Pro’s menu. Although this was an American-market vehicle, the Kia Soul model for the year 2020 was not listed under the “United States” section. To simplify the process, we navigated through the “Europe” section instead.

Within the European models, we found the Kia Soul SK3 and selected the production range that included the 2020 model year (2018-2021). The key type was identified as “4A,” leading us to the option to “Read PIN Code.”

 

The Crucial First Step: Reading the PIN Code

Modern vehicle security systems require a unique PIN code to authorize the programming of new keys. The Key K518 Pro indicated that an internet connection was necessary to retrieve this code from the vehicle’s immobilizer system.

Following the on-screen instructions, we:

Pressed the ignition button.

Confirmed that the hazard lights were flashing, indicating the tool was communicating with the car.

After a short wait, the tool successfully displayed the vehicle’s PIN code (6-digit). It’s a best practice to read the PIN code at the beginning of the process. This allows the programmer to cache the code, preventing interruptions later during the key programming phase.

Programming the New Smart Key

With the PIN code stored in the tool’s memory, we proceeded to the “Program Smart Key” function. The tool displayed a critical warning: all keys that are intended to work with the vehicle must be present and programmed during this session. Any key not included in this process will be permanently erased from the car’s memory and will no longer function.

Since we were programming only one new key, this was not an issue. We confirmed to continue.

The programming sequence involved a series of precise steps guided by the tool:

• Ensuring the ignition was off.
• Opening and closing the driver’s door once.
• The tool, using the cached PIN code, communicated with the immobilizer system without requiring manual code entry.
• When prompted, we pressed the ignition button with the new key.
• Almost instantly, the scanner confirmed: “Key successfully programmed.” We selected “Cancel” when asked to program an additional key, and the process was complete.

Verification and Testing

The final and most satisfying step was testing the newly programmed key. We verified its functionality in several ways:

Ignition: The vehicle started perfectly with the push-button start.

Remote Functions: The lock and unlock buttons on the key fob worked correctly.

General Operation: The vehicle recognized the key without any issues.

In conclusion, what began as a breakdown caused by a faulty aftermarket key was resolved efficiently by programming a genuine smart key. Using a professional tool like the Lonsdor K518 Pro, along with an internet connection for PIN code retrieval, made the process for this 2020 Kia Soul both fast and reliable.

Lonsdor K518 Pro Failed to Program 2022 Lexus RX350 All Keys Lost?

 Problem:

It is a 2022 Lexus RX350. All smart keys have lost. Lonsdor K518 Pro backed up immo data successfully via ADP15 adapter. But failed to generate the emulator key.

Device says “No valid key data found or PEPS is brand new” when generating emulator.

Possible reason and solution:

Someone reset the smart box.

You can back up immo data via ADP adapter, but the immo data does not contain key data. It’s like new.

In this case, Lonsdor is not be able to program key anymore.

The user needs to find someone to write the data to the smart box, or replace the Smart box with one that already has data, to proceed the key programming.

Lonsdor K518 Pro Key Chip Communication Error Solution

 Problem:

Lonsdor K518 Pro did not read any key. I have tried yesterday too lots of keys nothing is reading.

Device gave an error key chip communication decoding error.

Solution:

There is a problem with the induction coil.

Disassemble the K518 Pro unit and check the coil area.

If you don’t know how to disassemble the device, send the device back to repair.
