An increasing number of locksmiths use Lonsdor K518ISE / K518S to program Volvo V60 /V40 keys etc successfully as what Lonsdor advertised. Then how it works on Volvo keys? The following paragraphs are available with the operation guide of Lonsdor K518ISE VOLVO V60 2011-2017 Keyless-go key programming.
VOLVO V60 Function:
- Add smart key: Add a smart key or program on all key lost.
- Delete smart key: Delete the already programmed smart key.
- Read the CEM secure data: Dismantle & read CEM to backup security data (this is a must before programming).
- Read the KVM secure data: Dismantle & read KVM to backup security data (this is a must before programming).
- Key identification and unlocking: To detect whether the key is a new unused one. If the remote control is invalid after programming (on condition that the battery has been installed and the remote frequency is correct), try to import the CEM secure data to unlock the key and program again after unlocking. Please not it can only unlock the CEM secure data of the vehicle or corresponding vehicle.
- Module identification: Identify the body CEM / KVM module status, please do this before all the operation. This function can ensure the module status, and distinguish between smart key and keyless-go. In addition, when the secure data backup is completed, and the module has been installed where it should be, please perform “module identification” again just in case and then proceed programming.
Note:
- When programming Volvo 6-button keys, please be sure to dismantle & read the CEM and KVM first, as to their location and how to read, please refer to the “Operation” or “Reference”.
- First time to use the KPROG-2 Adapter, you need to bind it with K518. Go to the
K518 home page and choose “Settings -> Bind adapter”, following the
instruction to finish binding. One K518 host can bind up to 5 adapters, and the bound adapter cannot be bound to other K518 hosts. Once bound, no need to bind again.
- For the 6-button key, you need to dismantle & read the CEM in the co-driver storage box,as well as the KVM in the right trunk to backup secure data.
- Connection among K518 host, adapter and RN-01
- Please read CEM secure data with RN-01 PCB.
- Connection among K518 host, adapter and FS-01
- Please read KVM secure data with FS-01 PCB.
Lonsdor Operation of Volvo V60 2011-2017 Keyless-go key programming:
Option 1 method of programming process:
Use K518 adaptor to dismantle and read CEM security data, which will be saved automatically in [file/feature_35] directory in K518 memory.
Use K518 adaptor to dismantle and read KVM security data(288bytes), which will be saved automatically in [file/feature_35] directory in K518 memory.
When perform [add/delete smart key] function, select CEM security data first and KVM data, then enter [program smart key] process.
Option 2 method of programming process:
Use K518 adaptor to dismantle and read CEM security data, which will be saved automatically in [file/feature_35] directory in K518 memory.
Use external programmer to dismantle and read KVM security data(4k).
Copy the EEPROM data(read with programmer)to [file/feature_35] directory in K518 memory.
When perform [add/delete smart key] function, select CEM security data first and KVM data, then enter [program smart key] process.
Module identification
Before all operation, please connect car OBD to “Module identification”, which can detect the module (CEM/KVM) status, distinguish if the car is keyless-go(full smart key) or smart key.
Test status results:
(1) Installed. (Indicating that the corresponding module status is normal)
(2) Not installed or communication failure. (That indicates the car does not have the corresponding module, or the module status is abnormal.
When the security data is backed up completely, install back all the modules accordingly. Please do “Module identification” again, check to ensure that the module is well installed and in normal status. And then do programming operation.
Read CEM security data
- Volvo’s CEM are located under the co-pilot airbag on the left, remove the car copilot glove box.
CEM boxes may have the same appearance, but the back of the circuit wire location is different, can be called type A and B.
Type A: open the lid, pay attention to the black columns in the blue circle on the back of the circuit board, those are four positioning points, stably match them respectively with the white columns on RN-01 board.
Note: The circuit board is coated with insulating glue, it is required to use the washing plate water to wash it off the blue area of the insulation coating in the contact point (solder joint) , or power cannot go through. If the needle of RN-01 board is broken, it needs to be wired in the corresponding locations.
(First time to use the adapter, please bind it with K518ISE host and refer to “Function”)
Type B: Its circuit is different from that of type B, it requires to be wired to read immodata, please refer to below wire instruction:
Note: Connect power to read the data, it is required to separate RN-01 board to the motherboard to prevent conduction. Welding line should not be over 15cm.
Read KVM security data:
- Volvo’s KVM modules are located in the rear of the car rear, right rear wheel position (16 S60L recommended from the right rear door to the wheel direction);
- Open the module cover, you must first use the washing plate to clean the blue area of the insulation coating,
or power cannot go through, please bind it with K518ISE host, please refer to”Function”)
Notice:
Part of Volvo KVM data may fail to read due to different chip type, please:
- Dismantle module to read data with external programmer(.bin file)
- Then connect K518 to computer, and save above dedicated data to [file –> feature_394] folder in K518 memory.
- Continue to program key and you can select KVM data during the process.
Read KVM data with programmer:
Attention:
- If system prompts safety verification failure after KVM data is entered in the process of program, please read the KVM data again.
- If system prompts failed to initialize target chip(code 101), it’s because adaptor is not supported for the moment. Please use external programmer to read the data, and login website(//u.lonsdor.com) to convert the data then program.
- When read CEM data, if system prompts failed to run APP, please exit the main menu, update firmware and install adaptor. If system prompts data reading failure(9FFF), please contact after-sales staffs to check OBD issue.
4-1. If the key has no smart or remote control function after program, confirm whether it’s smart key.
4-2. If the key has no remote control after program, sometimes it’s the problem of key. You can try to unlock the key first and reprogram it.
- If smart card can’t be inhaled into key slot, you can try to press start button. Hold the card and keep it not pop up, then wait and follow the device’s prompts to operate.
- If dismantle and read KVM, please be careful of welding lines. More details, contact after-sales team.
- If there is no remote control to start car after read KVM data and roll back installation, please go to “module identification” to detect. If it prompts KVM is uninstalled or error occurs, please dismantle KVM to check welding or electronic component issues.
- If you can’t find the specified folder in computer after convert data and connect it to K518 with USB cable, directly run “program smart key” on the device. The system will prompt loading CEM… then loading KVM… KVM has no data now. You can exit the program, unplug the USB and reconnect K518 to computer, then you will find the specified folder.
- When programming Volvo key, be sure to dismantle & read CEM and KVM in advance, as to their location and how to read them, please refer to the “Operation” or “Reference”.
- It is required to bind the adapter for the first use, you need to bind it with K518ISE. Go to the device’s main menu and choose “Settings -> Bind adapter”, follow prompts to finish binding. One K518 host can bind up to 5 adapters, and the bound adapter cannot be bound to other K518ISE hosts. Once bound, no need to bind again.
- For 5-button key, you only need to dismantle & read the CEM in co-driver storage box to backup data. For 6-button key, you need to dismantle & read the CEM in co-driver storage box, as well as the KVM on the right of trunk to back up data.
- For 6-button smart key, need to insert the key into card slot first, and follow system prompts to operate.
- If a smart key can’t be inhaled into key slot, please confirm whether it’s locked. Locked keycard can’t be programmed. Generally a new keycard is not locked.
- If key can’t be ejected from key slot, you can try to program once again. When the process is finished, key will be ejected automatically. If not, try to cut off car’s power and take it out. If the key still can’t be ejected, please check car key slot.
- When install battery to Volvo models, please pay attention that the two batteries are overlapped, separated by a white paper in between, do not just replace the above one. Disassemble is also very simple, remove the metal key, in the place where the key lies, please find a little knife with not too sharp blade, gently open it from the gap.
- The new data converted from Lonsdor website(//u.lonsdor.com) is valid for 24 hours, if timed out, please go to the website to re-convert it.
- You must use K518 account to login Lonsdor website(//u.lonsdor.com), otherwise the converted data can’t be used normally, it will prompt [Authorization file error].
